{"id":441,"date":"2011-12-13T22:28:22","date_gmt":"2011-12-14T06:28:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cookingwithcats.com\/?p=441"},"modified":"2011-12-13T22:28:22","modified_gmt":"2011-12-14T06:28:22","slug":"twelve-days-of-christmas-music-that-doesnt-suck-a-soalin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.cookingwithcats.com\/?p=441","title":{"rendered":"Twelve Days of Christmas Music that Doesn&#8217;t Suck &#8211; A Soalin&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Because really, a lot of it does.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m sorry, I really am, I&#8217;ve tried to be the Cheery Christmasy Type who whistles seasonal music because I love it, and not because it&#8217;s been permanently etched into my brain due to repetition, but most of that <a href=\"http:\/\/xkcd.com\/988\/\" target=\"_blank\">Baby Boomer jolt of Christmas music<\/a> that has become canonical hasn&#8217;t aged terribly well, and after twenty two years, I&#8217;ve gotten kind of sick of it all. And those specials with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dPrbccEdI5o\" target=\"_blank\">wood elves and stuff<\/a>. I&#8217;m tired of those too. Humbug.<\/p>\n<p>There is a lot of Christmas music that I do enjoy though, and I&#8217;d like to share it with you.\u00c2\u00a0 This one is a bit of a favorite of my family. We first discovered it in Deborah Turney Zagwyn&#8217;s book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Winter-Gift-Deborah-Turney-Zagwyn\/dp\/1883672937\/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1323843504&amp;sr=1-3\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;The Winter Gift&#8221;<\/a>. Since none of us were terribly good with reading sheet music, we would sing the song to a much brighter, cheery tune, but eventually a kindly music teacher set us straight.
